Costal Protection

Over our 50 year history, Soil Engineering Construction, Inc. has engineered, designed, and constructed many dozens of coastal protection structures and seawalls in both Northern and Southern California. We have developed specialized shoring and stabilization techniques for this type of work to ensure the success and longevity of our projects. Shotcrete structures are hand sculpted and colored to match the adjacent bluff topography, so as to be pleasing to homeowners and regulators alike.

Costal projects often pose specific challenges, from both a regulatory and site-access perspective. In the past, we have come up with creative solutions so that our crews can gain access to costal bluffs, whether this involves delivering construction equipment to a beach or repelling down cliff faces. From a regulatory perspective, we have undergone permit acquisition through the California Costal Commission for many of our projects. We are well equipped to work with the CCC to obtain permits, and we are fully aware of what they need to see on projects in order to get permits passed. All told, SEC is highly experienced in all aspects of costal work in California, from repair design, to permit acquisition, and construction completion.
