Slope Stabilization and Landslide Repair

Soil Engineering Construction, Inc. has been repairing landslides in California for the past 50 years. Early on, the company introduced the concept and use of “Soldier Beam Retaining Structures” to retain landslide situations. The idea caught on and is, of course, very common today. This is only a small representation of our expertise and innovative practice when it comes to landslide repair, slope stabilization, and development and installation of retaining structures.

Typical repairs done by S.E.C. involve grading, drainage installation, retaining walls, tiebacks, buttress fills and specialty applications that solve specific problems. An example of specialty application would be counterfort trenches spaced on given centers of unstable slopes that are backfilled with permeable rock that is lightly cemented to create high strength. This results in drained stabilizing ribs. Other slope trenches are done to begin at the toe of the slope and reach upward into the slope. Many other approaches are employed to deal with uniquely differing background conditions.

We most often prepare repair plans and structural calculations in house with our team of engineers and geologists. These plans are often based upon investigative soil reports and topographic surveys that are created by other firms. We have strong working relationships with these firms and are able to communicate with them throughout project design and completion. All told, we have thorough experience with landslide repair and slope stabilization, and we are fully equipped to deliver a superior product for you at highly competitive cost.
